Dallas Date Ideas

March 3, 2020

HI! I’m Molly.

Here to encourage you on your own bold pursuit of intentional living as I live out my own. I’m passionate about running, spending time doing what I love and cheering others on to approach running with joy.

This was a highly requested post that I never got around to, so I figured now was the time for my Dallas date ideas post! :)

My boyfriend and I will be doing long distance now that I am in Austin (ensure tears lol I am so dramatic), but I’ll be coming to Dallas once a month and can update as we find new places and date ideas we love! Honestly, we’re pretty laid back and love any date that allows us to talk and catch up distraction-free haha. Cooking dinner at my apartment was usually the best way to do this while also being cost effective, or going to a fun new restaurant! But, we also both love being outdoors and trying new things. We’re excited to have both Dallas AND Austin to explore together now - I can’t wait to be putting a list together like this for Austin!! I usually keep my phone away on dates, so most of these are iPhone shots or I don’t have a photo at all!I hope this list inspires you to do something a little different for your next date night!

Hammock at White Rock

I adore my magellan hammock. It’s portable, affordable and extremely easy to put up anywhere there are a lot of trees! On pretty days, we’d love going to White Rock to either talk or read. I have the “double” size for reference.

Picnic

Dom got me a picnic basket and blanket for my birthday and if we had all the time in the world, I’d probably make us go on a picnic everyday haha. Again, White Rock Lake is one of my favorite spots, so this place is always a safe bet for a picnic! There's always the Dallas Arboretum, too, but you have to pay to get in.

Coffee + walk through a new neighborhood

No electronics allowed :) This is a fun way to see a new area in your city and talk about who knows what! I’m crazy about walks and we’ve seen some really cool houses doing this, too!

Cidercade

If one of y’all likes games, you’ve got to go here! It’s an arcade and bar, and I bet they’ve got your old favorite childhood game here. I loved guitar hero and it’s my favorite to play (unfortunately, my boyfriend actually plays guitar, though, and I am no match for him hahah).

S’mores + board games at Halcyon

This has been one of my FAVORITE dates! You can buy a cute little s’mores board with the fire in the middle and chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers. Then, they have board games to play - we love scrabble and I demand a rematch.

Show at Dallas Theater Center

The shows here are phenomenal! Lucky for me, my boyfriend loves both concerts and shows (I feel like a lot of guys only enjoy concerts) and we get to enjoy theater together! We saw Little Women for Valentine’s Day and absolutely adored it. Definitely check out all their shows!!

Drinks at Merchant House

Merchant House is such a fun spot to grab dinner and/or drinks. It’s an old historic home, so it feels like you’re not even in Dallas while you’re there! I can’t remember what drink I got, but I love what it came in and it was sweet, so I liked it :) We also got the grilled cheese dumplings, which are a MUST.

Movies at Inwood Theatre

The best place to watch movies! Instead of regular recline chairs, they have a bunch of couches and commmmfy chairs. Plus IMO, their movie popcorn wins for best movie popcorn.

Eno’s + Bishop Arts

Pig Smiley Pig Smiley Pig Smiley Pig Smiley. My favorite pizza ever and Bishop Arts is one of my very favorite areas in Dallas. It’s growing soooo much and I swear every time I’m there, something new has popped up!!

Rock Climbing

I’m obsessed with rock climbing even though I am not that good at it! We’ve always had a ton of fun whenever we’ve done any type of workout together, but I’d say this is the most light-hearted, fun and challenging one. It’s a blast!

Tennis

Another active and outdoor activity, tennis was something we did a tonnn at the beginning of dating! Rackets and tennis balls are cheap to purchase and there are courts to use all over Dallas.Of course, we love all the seasonal activities too, like Hall's Pumpkin Patch and the fair!!

What are some of your favorite dates in Dallas?
