Here to encourage you on your own bold pursuit of intentional living as I live out my own. I’m passionate about running, spending time doing what I love and cheering others on to approach running with joy.
Is it just me or is EVERYONE going to Iceland? When I asked for suggestions on Instagram, my DMs got flooded with people either saying they just returned and had a list, or they were going so they wanted to know what I heard back! Flights are incredibly cheap right now and it’s a direct flight from most places in the U.S., so it only makes sense that a ton of folks are going.Like I did with Bali, I booked these tickets on a whim with one of my friends after seeing a crazy deal. We aren’t even going to be there for a full week, but I know once we get there it’s SO expensive and I feel good about everything we are going to do! I am talking about BUCKET LIST THINGS, PPL. AAAH I am so excited I could cry haha. I’ve been the biggest procrastinator when it comes to this trip, though, and packing has been the last thing on my dang mind.Of course, I want to look cute when I go…duh. Not quite sure how that’s feasibly possible since it is already so cold though! Nor did I have any desire to go out and buy a bunch of new clothes. After studying abroad in Copenhagen for a spring semester during college, I have a giant puffer (not cute) and durable cold shoes, but there’s still a lotta other junk to figure out. I’m hoping my packing list below will help you out! Here’s what I’m packing for my trip to Iceland:
Parka | Socks | Hat | Hiking shoes | Scarf | Vest | Swimsuit | Gloves | Sunnies | Shirt
Now let me dive into a few key items, some pictured above and some not:
Preferably one that covers your bootay. You'd never know how much of a difference that makes until you've been somewhere freezing in a parka that doesn't cover your bum. Get one that is water resistant, too!
I cannot and will not travel without this anymore. Since I've practically cut out almost all gluten and dairy from my diet, my stomach goes CRAZY when I start to eat it. Taking two activated charcoals pills before my meal and two right after helps to tame my stomach a bit. I go to Sprouts or Whole Foods to get this!
I sleep at home with earplugs and heaven forbid I forget these, especially on a long red-eye flight.
I plan on bringing three pairs of warm leggings and re-wearing them. We are doing active adventures every day we are there, so I want outfits where I'm free to move around.
It's all about the layers and if for some reason I'm able to take off my parka because I'm hot (AS IF!), I know I'll need another type of jacket. I'll honestly probably wear this underneath my parka, too!
Need I say more?
I debated bringing running shoes too, but I think the hiking shoes will be better for some of the activities that we have planned. I didn't want to fill space in my suitcase with shoes, so I opted with a smaller pair as opposed to a taller pair.
I'll be using a backpack as my carry-on on the plane and won't use a purse anywhere in Iceland. I want to be hands-free to take photos and know I'll need a backpack when we are hiking and what not!
My feet always get FREEZING. I'll be bringing three pairs of thick socks and plan on re-wearing them until they get good and stinky ;) Comfy and warm socks can make all the difference, so don't skimp on these.
I certainly hope some type of geothermal pool is on your to-do list while you're in Iceland! This is something that could be easily forgotten, so don't forget to tuck it in there.
I'm bringing two athletic, super warm tops and one regular long sleeve t-shirt. Once again, I plan on layering these with a jacket, scarf and parka on top!
Don't forget to bring a converter to charge all your electronics! I have a universal one to use anywhere and it can be ordered on Amazon.
DUH.
I think you can figure out what personal items you need, as well as toiletries! We also plan on bringing A LOT of snacks because we don't want to spend that much money on food while we are there. I cannot believe our trip is almost here!
